Applications are now open to join the ANIMATION CHAPTER of the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA).
Being one of the Academy's 14 Chapters of discipline, the ANIMATION CHAPTER is made up of creative talent working in Animation in Ireland and Internationally.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP OF THE ANIMATION CHAPTER?
IFTA Membership is open to:
- Animators

Producers/Directors/Writers (working exclusively/ predominantly in the area of Animation)
- Animation Modellers

Animation Sculptors
-
Character Designers
- Ink & Paint Supervisors

Animation Computer Programmers

Layout Artists
-
Storyboard Artists
Like fellow international Academies, IFTA runs a year-round programme of learning events and activities including; Masterclasses, previews screenings, Q&As, Tributes, panel and chapter focused events throughout the year, along with the annual industry Awards Ceremony. |

The Academy has welcomed top animation talent to Ireland for exclusive preview screenings and detailed Q&A sessions.
Some of the world's biggest names in animation have shared their career experiences directly with Members of the the Irish Film & Television Academy.
Previous guests of IFTA include:
- Director Lee Unkrich (co-director of Tot Story 2 and Finding Nemo) and producer Darla K. Anderson (Cars, Monsters. Inc)
- Oscar nominated writer/director Pete Docter (Monster’s Inc, WALL•E, Toy Story) and producer Jonas Rivera for UP

Irish director Neil Jordan, producers James Flynn and Morgan O'Sullivan and Costume Designer Joan Bergin were among the IFTA Members who shared their production experiences with IFTA in Q&A Sessions following first look screenings of their television dramas The Borgias and Camelot.
IFTA recently hosted our Annual Summer Reception at the Galway Film Fleadh and supported the Screenwriter-In-Residence programme at the festival with Walk the Line screenwriter Gill Dennis hosting a Masterclass.
Other upcoming events this summer include our First Tuesday screening in the IFI of Mary McGuckian's anticipated Man on The Train, starring U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr. and Donald Sutherland, along with a host of upcoming preview screenings and premieres.
Other big events coming up in the Academy's calendar include
the Annual IFTA Tribute to one of Ireland's leading talents; the Actors Forum and a special Animation in Focus presentation.

The Irish Film & Television Awards celebrates Irish creative excellence across film and television.

This IFTA Award is voted for solely by the Academy's ANIMATION CHAPTER along with specially invited international guest jury Members.
Members of the IFTA animation jury have included; Chris Shepherd (Slinky Pictures), Greg Maguire (Star Wars), Bud Luckey (Pixar), Howard Litton (Nickelodeon UK), Richard Baneham (Avatar), Robin Lyons (Calon Animation) and Finn Arnesen (Hasbro Studios).
