IFTA – Television Lecture series

The Irish Film & Television Academy is delighted to welcome Gary Davey, Managing Director of Content for SKY as guest speaker in the IFTA -Television Lecture series at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin on Thursday 18th Feb.

 

Gary Davey is the Managing Director of Content for SKY with responsibility for Sky’s entertainment, movies and news channels in the UK and Ireland as well as the entire entertainment offering of Sky Deutschland where he has been Executive Vice President Programming since 2010. Gary is focussed on delivering Sky’s commitment to offering customers the very best range of content across its channels. As well as acquiring high-quality shows from around the world and building Sky’s partnerships with world class content creators such as HBO and SHOWTIME, Gary is also responsible for Sky’s growing portfolio of original productions. Recent hits include Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, The Last Panthers, Fortitude and You, Me and the Apocalypse.

Gary will give attending industry guests an overview of Sky’s content strategy and an insight into what Sky is looking for when commissioning from Independent Producers along with a brief preview of what is up-coming.<

Background
Gary Davey was appointed Managing Director of Content for SKY in January 2015 and brings considerable experience to the role. For the majority of his career, Gary has worked as a senior executive in the international pay TV industry holding senior roles in Europe, Asia and the US. Before joining Sky Deutschland in June 2010, Gary held a senior role at Sky Italia, where he was responsible for launching its terrestrial TV network, cielo. He has also worked as Managing Director of BSkyB in England where he helped launch the company and CEO of STAR TV in Hong Kong among his other roles.
