AMERICAN ACADEMY FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM AWARD

The Irish Film & Television Academy is the organization appointed to select Ireland’s submission for consideration for the Foreign Language Film Award at the American Academy Awards.

To be eligible this year, films must have been released in the submitting country for a run of at least seven consecutive days beginning no earlier than October 1, 2015 and no later than September 30, 2016. No television or online transmission may have occurred before the film’s theatrical release.

The creative talent exercising artistic control over the submitted film must be from Ireland however there is no requirement for entries to be in a language indigenous to Ireland or to be set in Ireland. The dialogue must be predominantly in a language or languages other than English and accurate English subtitles are required.

The Irish Academy asks that all films that are eligible for consideration be sent on DVD for viewing by the selected Foreign Language Film Award Jury by Friday 29th July 2016(please contact the IFTA office for full details of required submission paperwork and number of DVDs required). Applicants will be notified at the end of August of the selected film to go forward. The successful film will then be submitted by the Irish Academy to the American Academy along with full paperwork and a copy of the film.
