VIRTUAL EVENT
TUESDAY 5th SEPTEMBER
IFTA is delighted to welcome Oscar-nominated cinematographer Mandy Walker for a special IFTA masterclass (virtual) on Tuesday 5th September.

Also for Elvis, Mandy was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA. She is one of only three women in the Academy's 94-year history to receive an Oscar nomination in the Cinematography category,
Also an Academy Governor, she has worked extensively in both the US and Australia.
In this special event with IFTA Academy Members and industry attendees, Mandy will discuss her unique approach as an acclaimed Director of Photography; her transition from Australian cinema to Hollywood; her work with director Baz Luhrmann in building the distinct look of Elvis; and share tips and advice for upcoming Irish filmmakers and cinematographers.
“You have to keep adapting as a cinematographer, so before the film is going to be shot I make sure I have a very clear idea in my mind about what I'm doing and I will have test shots and discuss everything with every department, I go visit all the other departments every week. I love doing pre-production and working on the visual language of the movie so by the time we start shootingI feel very confident in what I'm doing.”
