    Barry Keoghan

    Academy Member

    Barry Keoghan was born in Summerhill, Dublin on 17th October 1992. Since making his break as ‘Wayne’ on RTE’s Love/Hate, Barry has gone onto work with some of the worlds best actors including Cillian Murphy, Michael Fassbender and Mark Rylance. In 2017, Barry was included in the Hollywood Reporter’s Top 20 Rising Stars under 35.

    After receiving a Leading Actor IFTA nomination for his role in the acclaimed Mammal, Barry was cast in Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk, which went on to receive a host of Oscar nominations in early 2018. At the 2018 IFTA Film and Drama Awards, Barry picked up the Leading Actor - Film Award for his unnerving performance in The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

    Keoghan also appeared in Calm with Horses (2019), for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the IFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Film. In 2021, he appeared as Druig in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals. Keoghan took on the iconic role of Joker in The Batman in 2022. Barry's next project was in 2023 when he starred in Martin Mcdonagh's Banshee's of Inisherin which led to his first Oscar nomination in the Actor in a supporting role category, Additionally Barry recieved an IFTA nomination and BAFTA win for this performance. In 2024 Barry starred in Saltburn alongside Jacob Elordi which was another successful project for Barry and let him to an IFTA, BAFTA and Golden Globes nomination for this performance. In 2025 Barry was nominated for another IFTA for his performance in coming of age film Bird.
