The first ever brand TV commercial for BMW conceived, produced, and shot entirely in Ireland is currently showing on Irish TV screens. Premiering on RTE 2 at half time during the Irish / Australia World Cup rugby match on 17 September - the commerical, entitled Joy Inspires, was directed by IFTA nominated Irish filmmaker Anthony Byrne (Short Order).

This new commerical is designed to take the viewer on an inspiring journey through a number of scenarios, accompanied by a specially composed soundtrack from Gareth Averill (Music) and Locky Butler (Sound Design).

The commerical was produced by IFTA Member Russ Russell and Anne-Marie Curran of Russell Curran Productions and was filmed on location in Dublin and Wicklow over the summer.

Director Anthony Byrne is new to commercials directing, but has worked on a number of Irish film, and of television drama projects including Single Handed, Silent Witness, and the new series of Love/Hate.

The ad was created by Chemistry - Adrian Fitzsimon and Rachel Carey were the creative team involved, and Creative Director for the ad was Emmet Wright, who said: "There are very few car commercials originated in Ireland, and fewer still, if any, for premium brands such as BMW. It was an amazing opportunity, and we're really pleased with what we've
produced
."

This brand advertising campaign follows on from two very successful years for BMW Ireland which have been driven by the hugely successful launch of the new 5 Series. With a new 1 Series launching this autumn it looks like BMW's success in this market is set to continue.
