The Irish Film & Television Academy has a Board of Advisors comprised of a number of representatives of the industry (north and south), individuals working in the industry, and individuals working in the broader entertainment sector. This Board of Advisors oversees the development and rollout of the Academy, advising on policy, strategy, financing, Awards, events etc.
The Board of Advisors is responsible for the criteria, eligibility and categories for the annual awards, Academy membership qualifications and voting rights, voting structures, jury process, and will ensure that the Membership and Awards are balanced, transparent and all inclusive.
The Board will also decide upon the Lifetime Achievement Award Winner each year from the film or television sectors.
The Board structure is designed to represent the entire industry, either through representative organisations, guilds, unions, finance bodies, etc. Members of the Board meet quarterly in Dublin.

• RTÉ - Dir of Programmes Television - Steve Carson (representing all Irish broadcasters)
• SPI - CEO (Sean Stokes)
• SIPTU - Padraig Murray representing crew and Actors Equity
• IFTN - Director (Deirdre Hopkins) - Liaising with the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland and the Irish Playwrights and Screenwriters Guild.

There will be two separate advisory panels/committees, one for film and one for television. These committees will report to the Board of Advisors with feedback from the industry and the Academy members; on eligibility and criteria, recommendations for new potential members, new projects, events that members would like developed, etc. The members of the Academy will be represented on both the Film and Television Committees from 2007 onwards.
